About the Anchor Client

First Solar is an American company which manufacturers solar panels and provides services ranging from finance, construction, maintenance and end-of-life panel recycling. They are a fast-growing technology company which aims at providing sustainable energy solutions.

Challenges faced
  • Panel Degradation
  • No Real Time DC Capacity Estimation
About the Startup

Focus: Providing Asset Management and Optimization solutions in Solar Energy

Solution:

  • Utilized the collected years of plant data to estimate the real time DC capacity over time through Machine Learning.
  • Real time alerts, insights and actions would be displayed on the DER applications.
  • Impact of factors such as soiling loss, temperature and irradiation on DC output was also estimated.
Results

First Solar offered a Letter of Intent to DataGlen as this solution would help in processing warranty claims and identifying issues faced by asset owners.

Testimonial

“The SCALE program was very useful to us as a company participating in the clean energy space. We deal with trying to change behaviours in a commodity market. Energy is a very regulated and cost-conscious environment, so we are always looking into opportunities to optimise or lower the cost of operations. Yes SCALE’s initiative to work with startups, who are trying to create IPs which are unique to India and are solving problems locally, is fantastic. These solutions will go a long way in improving the returns on investments for people who are investing in the clean tech space. As the renewable space moves from the advanced countries to the emerging markets, the challenges are very different. The solutions must be customized and adapted to meet the needs of the emerging markets. Some of the IPs that people are developing through this program could be scalable and commercialized through different geographies as solar gets deployed across the world”
